MCC (Microelectronics and Computing Corporation)
Microelectronics and Computing Corporation was founded in 1983 by a
consortium of computer and semiconductor manufacturers to conduct research and
development. EINet began as a research project of the consortium. Its success led to the
release of the first WAIS Internet navigators in 1993. In January of 1994, EINet Galaxy,
one of the first searchable subject trees on the Web was introduced. MacWeb, a web
browser that has received accolades from the Mac community, was brought out in the
summer of 1994; it was followed by WinWeb and further versions of MacWeb. The
EINet project is now owned by the TradeWave Corporation.
